Jack has over 22 years of correctional experience spanning positions from Correctional Officer to Captain.

During his tenure with the California Department of Corrections, he has performed assignments that have included Correctional Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Counselor, Training Manager, Background Investigator, Senior Investigator, and Captain. With experience in both prisons and the department's headquarters he spent seven years with the Office of Compliance, auditing and evaluating prison operations and programs throughout the state of California. A majority of reviews and audits were mandated as a result of court actions. Based on this experience he was assigned to a special task force for the creation of a remedial plan to the court, to deal with the use of force, gang affiliation, investigations and the disciplinary process.

Jack went on to be chosen as the lead auditor for the department's compliance reviews and reviewer of the remedial plans.
